In December 2024, China's application for "Spring Festival - Chinese people's social practice of celebrating the traditional New Year" was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The Lantern Festival, as a representative project, is also an indispensable festival activity of Chinese folk tradition during the Spring Festival.
At Haitian Lanterns based in Zigong, China, we take pride in being a global manufacturer in custom-crafted lantern artistry, blending centuries-old techniques with cutting-edge technology to illuminate celebrations worldwide. As we reflect on the 2025 Spring Festival season, we are honored to have partnered with some of the most iconic lantern festivals across China, showcasing our expertise in large-scale installations, intricate designs, and unwavering commitment to quality.
Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival: A Marvel of Heritage and Technology
The 31st Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival, hailed as the pinnacle of lantern artistry, featured our groundbreaking contributions. We delivered awe-inspiring installations such as the Entrance Gate and Cyberpunk Stage. The entrance gate is 31.6 meters high at its highest point, 55 meters long and 23 meters wide. It contains three large rotatable octagonal lanterns, which display intangible cultural heritages such as the Temple of Heaven, Dunhuang Feitian, and Pagodas, as well as an unfolded scroll on each side, incorporating the paper-cutting and light-transmitting technique. The entire design is both magnificent and artistic. These innovations exemplify our ability to merge intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship with technological brilliance.
Beijing Jingcai Spring Lantern Carnival: Scaling New Heights
At the Beijing Garden Expo Park’s “Jingcai Carnival”, lanterns transformed 850 acres into a luminous wonderland. It has set up more than 100,000 lantern pendants, more than 1,000 kinds of special foods, more than 1,000 New Year goods, more than 500 performances and parades. It provides tourists with a more diverse tour experience. At the same time, this Carnival will innovatively adopt the "7+4" and "day+night" modes, and the operating hours will be from 10 am to 9 pm. Combined with theme performances, folk art performances, intangible cultural heritage and folk experience, special foods, garden lantern viewing, parent-child leisure and other diversified scenes and special gameplay, tourists can experience traditional cultural activities during the day and take a dreamy lantern night tour at night, and experience the New Year atmosphere in the Garden Expo Park in a diversified and immersive way for 11 hours a day.
Shanghai Yuyuan Lantern Festival: A Cultural Icon Reimagined
As a 30-year-old national intangible heritage event, the 2025 Yuyuan Lantern Festival continues the theme of "Yuyuan Legends of Mountains and Seas" in 2024. It not only has a large lantern group of the zodiac snake, but also various lanterns inspired by the spiritual beasts, birds of prey, exotic flowers and plants described in the "Classic of Mountains and Seas", showing the charm of China's excellent traditional culture to the world with a dazzling sea of lights.
Guangzhou Greater Bay Area Lantern Festival: Bridging Regions, Inspiring Unity
The theme of this lantern festival is "Glorious China, Colorful Bay Area", integrating the "two major intangible cultural heritages" of the Chinese Spring Festival and the Zigong Lantern Festival, integrating the international cultural elements of the Greater Bay Area cities and the "Belt and Road", and using modern technology and light and shadow art. The lights and lanterns are carefully crafted by more than a thousand intangible cultural heritage craftsmen, which are very Chinese, most Lingnan style, and dazzling international style. During the lantern festival, Nansha also carefully prepared hundreds of intangible cultural heritages, thousands of Bay Area delicacies, and many wonderful tours, including the Silk Road style from "Chang'an" to "Rome", the colorful flavors from "Hong Kong and Macao" to "the Mainland", and the trend collision from "hairpin" to "punk". Every step is a scene, and the good shows are staged one after another, allowing everyone to enjoy the reunion moment and experience joy and warmth while watching.
Qinhuai Bailuzhou Lantern Festival: Reviving Classical Elegance
As a long-term partner for many years, this year, the 39th Nanjing Qinhuai Lantern Festival deeply integrates folk art with the cultural connotation of the intangible cultural heritage "Shangyuan Lantern Festival". Inspired by the grand market scene, it restores the Shangyuan theme market in Bailuzhou Park, which not only reproduces the prosperous scenes in ancient paintings, but also incorporates elements such as intangible cultural heritage appreciation, hand-made interactions, and ancient style items to restore the fireworks atmosphere of the streets and alleys of the Ming Dynasty.
Through our involvement in these esteemed festivals and more, Haitian Lanterns continues to showcase our expertise in designing and producing high-quality, custom lanterns that captivate audiences and honor local traditions. We contribute to add a unique flair to the festivities, fit specific themes and settings to any event.
