2025 “Happy Chinese New Year” Global Launching Ceremony and Gala Held in Kuala Lumpur

The 2025 "Happy Chinese New Year" global launching ceremony and the "Happy Chinese New Year: Joy Across the Five Continents" performance were held on the evening of January 25 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

  

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, Minister of Culture and Tourism of China, Sun Yeli, Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture of Malaysia, Tiong King Sing, and Assistant Director-General of UNESCO, Ottone, who delivered a video speech. Also present were Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi, Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives Johari Abdul, and Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing.

Before the ceremony, 1,200 drones lit up the Kuala Lumpur night sky. The "Hello! China" lantern produced by Haitian Culture displays the welcome message under the night sky. During the event, guests from all walks of life participated in a "dotting the eyes" ceremony for the lion dance, officially launching the 2025 "Happy Chinese New Year" celebrations. Artists from China, Malaysia, the UK, France, the US, and other countries performed shows such as "New Year’s Blossoms" and "Blessings", showcasing Chinese New Year cultural elements and creating a vibrant atmosphere of reunion, happiness, harmony, and global joy. The "Happy Chinese New Year" Auspicious Snake lantern, lion dance, traditional drums and other lantern installations made by Haitian Culture brings more New Year festivities to Kuala Lumpur attracting participants taking photos with them.

The "Happy Chinese New Year" event is organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China. It has been held annually since 2001 for 25 consecutive years. This year marks the first Spring Festival after the successful inclusion of the Chinese New Year in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. "Happy Chinese New Year" events will be held in more than 100 countries and regions, featuring nearly 500 performances and activities, including New Year concerts, public square celebrations, temple fairs, global lantern displays, and walking New Year's dinners. Following last year's Year of the Dragon, Haitian Culture has continued to provide mascot lanterns and customize other related lantern sets for "Happy Chinese New Year" events around the world, allowing people around the world to experience the unique charm of Chinese traditional culture and celebrate the joy of the Chinese Spring Festival together.
